Preparation for CSE Personality Test ,Part-2

Image
As discussed in part-1, we are continuing from next point from summary sheet of CSM DAF, 1-      Particulars of prizes and medals etc.-       In this column if you have made an entry and now after going through your DAF you find it silly or not worth mentioning then you can’t undo that, so better thing is just try to justify that honor in 25 minutes ,if question is raised from that topic like generally any winner in district, state, national championship in Extempore, Debate, Quiz or any Talent search exam like  NTSE or scholarships like Olympiads then most probably they may ask you about contribution of such schemes for scholar development and academics , your topic for the event like in debate, essay etc. they may even ask you to speak for 2 min. on any random but weird topic ,if extempore, debate or public speaking is your hobby, then don’t try to speak impromptu but take few seconds ,make  few points in mind and then speak,...

Preparation for Final Battle- PERSONALITY TEST-1

Image
Since it is the last stage for any aspirants journey for CSE, it becomes very crucial to excel in this stage as irrespective of the past performance there can be 3 outcomes of personality test of UPSC CSE, namely - 1.        Goods score in mains exam - If you score good marks then chances are that you may get your 1 st service preference and even preferred cadre but if score are less then chances are that you may land up in central services and have to again appear for CSE and whose outcome will be still unpredictable (like in 2012 CSE Mains 808 and PT -156)  CSE 2010 interview   2.        Average marks in mains - if you have good marks in PT then you can get your 1 st or 2 nd preference of service but getting average marks in PT will land you in last ranks and even getting you out of list and thus wait for reserve list and appear again. 3.        If Mains marks are just above ...

Schemes for Everyone and Everything...Cradle to Grave

Image
There have been queries on approach to few newly introduced topics in General studies paper like Social sector initiatives/schemes by Centre (CSS- Centrally-sponsored schemes) and States. Though they were even earlier also but over a period of time their weight-age has increased. secondly one of the important change observed in last 4-5 yrs of  CSE is that earlier there used to be question on the salient features of schemes/policy but there has been shift to analytical aspects of it. Here i am putting few observations of mine on how to tackle these issues so as to focus on qualitative aspects of the schemes and policies. these touch points have been summed after interaction with  senior officers and administrators behind those initiatives. While making notes or studying any particular scheme following things have to be seen upon:- Firstly, in what circumstances or contexts the scheme was framed or evolved as this questions many a times answers the basic question a...

DEAR Abhishek,                      Every day I look at your room, after performing my Pooja,in hope that we both will see each other while offering our prayers to Surya, from our respective hostel room balconies but I find a locked door...the smile which we passed on after seeing was the basic message that the day will be fine for us, and I will always remember that on the fateful day when you left us and this physical abode, we had a discussion on breakfast table regarding Sunderkaand paath with Néeraj Chanchal and Pavitra in temple at hostel premises. ...Then you were running beside me and the last glimpse which is imprinted in my mind is how you were running behind in 100 mt. heats in yellow t-shirt and white shorts and just overtook me and I was looking at you... ...We had few interactions but as it is said in Academy that trek brings best out of you and from the time of selecting you as unanimous choice of our group l...

Art of Expression SOCIOLOGY & etc. - FEW POINTS.

In UPSC preparation , you can get matter from anywhere but how to write answers using that matter is something which requires expertise and practice. These are few insightful instructions of Upendra sir, which I fortunately got to listen during our brief interactions. I have personally found them very useful for both optionals and have added few points myself, based on my recent experience of CSE Mains 2012. Following are the few touch-points, which can be broadly applicable to all, as per current pattern:- 1.    Writing practice is key for mains exam. Preferably practice daily. 2 .    Questions should be understood clearly and should be broken into parts if it is a complex one and in one’s own word about what does it mean as sometimes comprehending the question is itself a key, 3.   Sociology should not overpower the general understanding of the problem. 4.   Every question must be treated as a problem and you are suppose to solve that...

PAPER - II Indian Administration   As this Paper concerns mostly with the application of principles discussed in paper 1 so to prepare it one must be comfortable and should have command on paper 1 so as to show how principles discussed in theory can be applicable to implementation aspect. Thus it would give a good feedback on examiner that aspirant has not only mugged up the syllabus but also has clearly understood the underpinnings of the discipline and all interconnections within the subject are crystal clear to the aspirant.                  Especially from the last 2 years paper 2 is designed in such a way that many questions appear to be out of blue and can be approached like a GS paper which will end in mediocre marks and that is the reason that there have been variations in marks scored between the candidates. Secondly you can connect the "GS" type’s ques. to some concepts in PA so it will appear that you can apply the ...
