Hello Teenager

Happy Teenage...

The journey from an infant to a kid, from a kid to a teenager and from teenager to a man cannot be distinguished from each preceding stage as one cannot fathom where one ends and what is the point from where the subsequent commences.

There is no specific age group which  can clearly demarcate these key phases as everyone has its own journey and trajectory of development. The initial ups and downs of life may mature someone a bit early and someone may grow wings late in the life under protected parentage. However this is a circle which mostly humans complete in one's lifetime. That is one of the reason I believe that none should be overprotected so that they develop the healthy wings in time which can help him fly life long. The strength provided during the initial years of parenting can nourish those high flying dreams for a long time, sometimes may be for life long.

So my kiddo entering teenage today. I remember writing one post long back when Ayush turned five.

Long time, indeed when you count number of days unless you see kid around and revisit how it was just few days back he learnt to speak, he learnt to get angry, get argumentative, try his hands on piano and those chess moves. Kids grow fast, more than you can measure on a calendar or scale. As parent we are overly cautious when child is approaching teenage, he is attaining puberty, he is asking questions whose straight answer is not "yes" or "no". You have to pause a bit, you have to think, rethink twice and then say, “We’ll discuss in the evening.”  The COVID has taken its toll on kids upbringing with good 2 years making them aloof from the good counsel of friends, those jokes and word play. It had made them mature in their cocoon.

No advise it durable and sacrosanct enough which one can give and is applicable life long in all circumstances. Advices are prone to tinkering with space and time conditions. What may be good advice for him today may not be appropriate at 25 or what may hold good today in normal situation, may not be fit enough in a city where he is full of strangers. Somewhere every parent want his kid to be a sage, a family man, an achiever, a caring son. It is a sort of seeking best of all and worst of none. Even if he doesn’t turn out any, we wish him best in life.

So today, I wish he may get best in life, we are with you Ayush, today and always.                                                        Go get & live your dream.

THE GOLDEN ROAD : A GOLDEN ERA

THE GOLDEN ROAD :  HOW ANCIENT INDIA TRANSFORMED THE WORLD WILLIAM DALRYMPLE, BLOOMSBURY, 2024 William Dalrymple does not need an introduction. Every reader has heard his name even if he hasn't read his works. His readership spreads from serious history researchers to casual history enthusiasts, from serious UPSC Civil services aspirants of History optionals to general studies specific students, from Indians interested in their cultural revivals to global readers interested in South-East Asia and especially India.  Recently, I have read his "The Golden Road" published by Bloomsbury which is about India's golden era where the dominance extended from Central Asia to China to South East Asia. The extent of influence was such that the entire cities were built on the patterns as in Bharatvarsh and Kings ruling in the name of Hindu dieties what he broadly terms as Indosphere. The book is presented in 10 chapters revolving around the common theme of Indic influence transcend...

BLAZE : A Son's Trial by Fire

Every book for that matter offers others perspective about either fictional, or on worldly matters. Readers may agree or disagree with the content, opinion or even factual matrix presented by the author. Every reviewer over a period of time must have felt that it is difficult to reveiw few books because you become a participant in the writers journey and lose objectivity. Objectivity infact is not necessarily to be imposed on each and every aspect. Few reads are catharactic, few are enlightening and few are to be lived.   One such book which I completed recently is "Blaze : A Son's Trial by Fire" written by Nidhi Poddar and Sushil Poddar.   The book publised in 2021 by Rupa Books and is available in English, Hindi and Marathi edition.  It is worth mentioning that I've known the authors forehand before I've read the book so the book came as a shocker on knowing what they have gone through.  Its intriguing how people hide the emotions, the tumult they undergo and...
